Navajo Lake is one of the most popular destinations in the Lizard Head Wilderness Area. The alpine lake is nestled in a beautiful basin surrounded by 13,000-foot ridges and three 14,000-foot peaks (Wilson Peak, Mount Wilson, and El Diente Peak). This is a popular camping spot so make sure to head out early enough to snag a spot. 

Directions:

Kilpacker Trail: To access the trail, drive south from Telluride on CO 145 past Mountain Village towards Lizard Head Pass. Turn right at the junction with Route 535 (Dunton Road). Drive about four miles and you will see a sign for Klipacker Trail. This is the trailhead. The trail meets up with the Woods Lake Trail at the top where you will descend another 0.75 miles into the basin. 

Woods Lake Route: From Telluride, head north on CO 145 and take a left on Fall Creek Road, just past the Sawpit Mercantile. Follow the road to Woods Lake and park at the lake. The trail begins to the left and heads around the lake before heading up the mountain.
