Silverton

Originally named Baker's Park, Silverton boasts the earliest gold and silver finds in the region. Few new buildings have been constructed in this small town since 1910, so Silverton remains an authentic turn of the century Victorian scene, designated a National Historic District. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad stops here in the summer, a scenic and historic way to travel to this place where time has stood still.

Silverton is also home to Silverton Mountain, offering a unique blend of guided backcountry skiing and expert terrain. The ski season typically runs from December to April, check online for more information.
