Leaf Peeping Report: Gold Season is Waning
It has been a spectacular fall but gold season is waning. Most of the leaves have dropped on the South and North mountainsides above town. There are still some isolated patches of color but that is changing fast. In town, a few Aspens and Cottonwoods are still holding on to the glorious colors of autumn. The gondola, which offers stunning views for leaf peepers, closes at midnight on October 18.
These photos were taken from Telluride Trail on October 14. As you can see, the groves of Aspens on the North side have all dropped their leaves.
