Mountainfilm Announces Films for 2023 Festival
Mountainfilm has announced its 2023 film lineup, and it includes more than 70 world, North American, U.S. and Colorado premieres. This Memorial Day weekend (May 25-29), head to Telluride's majestic box canyon for an intimate festival that will tackle some of the most relevant current issues.
This year's films include the world premiere of the HBO film "Tress, and Other Entaglements", Oscar-winning filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin's latest doc, "Wild Life", and Mountainfilm Commitment Grant recipients "Patrol" and "Impossible Town". There will also be 17 world premiere short filmes, including "The Orchestra Chuck Built", "Ultimate Citizens", "Die Laughing", "Daughter of Sea", "Soundscape" and "School of Fish".
This year's guest director is author and activist Bill McKibben, one of today's best-known voices on climate action. He is also the founder of 350.org and Third Act.
The 2023 festival will be dedicated to Hilaree Nelson. The Mountainfilm family will host a celebration of Nelson's life Sunday at 1 p.m. in addition to the world premiere of "The Place We Meet," which follows Nelson on an all-female adventure to climb and ski descents above the Arctic Circle.
