Secret waterfall: Cornet Falls Cornet Falls is tucked into a grotto on the north edge of town where Cornet Creek tumbles over a ledge, plummeting 80 feet into a tumble of red rocks below and creating billowing curtains of mist. The short, steep hike starts at the northern terminus of Aspen Street. (Stay right before the footbridge.)
Secret fun activity: Fishing at Kids’ Pond The Kids’ Fishing Pond in Telluride Town Park is open to children under the age of 12 for either catch-and-release or catch-and-keep fishing. Young enthusiasts accompanied by an adult can stop by the information center in the park to pick up a free fishing rod before heading to the pond to hook a whopper.
Secret snack spot: Telluride Truffle Don’t let the name fool you. There is more than truffles at this delightful shop located around the corner from the Nugget Theatre on North Fir Street. Delicious late afternoon or post-dinner treats range from peanut butter-stuffed pretzels to artisan ice cream to chocolate-covered Oreos and juicy gummy bears.
Secret skater hangout: The Drop Boardshop and Printlab Located downstairs from Taco del Gnar on South Oak Street is this astonishingly fun skateboard shop. There’s a selection of skateboards and gear, an indoor skate ramp and a range of cool programming including skateboard lessons, art camps and a build-your-own-board session.
Secret pizza joint: La Pizzeria Hop on the Gondola and head up to Mountain Village where this family-owned pizzeria offers casual Italian fare at its best. The menu features Italian-style thin-crust pizza is made with triple zero flour and a house-made tomato sauce and then baked in an authentic Italian brick pizza oven. There is outdoor seating and a playground is nearby.
