The snow is falling and the energy is high as ski season in Telluride has officially begun. With four feet of snow since mid-October, excitement was palatable on Thanksgiving, also Opening Day at the Telluride Ski Resort. Skiers and riders lined up to catch the coveted first chair of the season.

The potato black bean sauté at Giuseppe’s is hearty and keeps skiers and riders fueled all day.  Dine with a French twist at Bon Vivant, where the views are as a delectable as the cuisine or experience the traditional northern Italian at Alpino Vino, the highest restaurant in North America at 12,000 feet).

Grab a beer and a heaping plate of Nachos at Oak (base of the Telluride gondola); cruise down Lift 4, stow your skis and enjoy the view of the slopes under the large umbrella at Tomboy Tavern; or check out the cool fire tables at Black Iron Kitchen.

BEST WAY TO GET AROUND

There is no need for a car in Telluride. Take a shuttle from the Telluride or Montrose airport as once you arrive you can walk everywhere or take advantage of the free Galloping Goose bus that loops through town every 10 minutes.  Hop on the free gondola to travel back and forth between Telluride and Mountain Village.
